The Southern Arizona Center Against Sexual Assault (SACASA) is thrilled to announce that the 4th Annual Tech Nerd Cinco de Golf Classic has raised $57,345 for survivors of sexual violence. This contribution brings the total amount raised for SACASA over the past three years to $124,557.
More than 100 golfers participated in the event at Omni Tucson National Resort on Monday, May 5, 2025. The scramble format tournament brought tech industry leaders and professionals from around the country together for a fun day of networking and friendly competition, followed by a fiesta happy hour, dinner, awards program, and silent auction. All proceeds from the event were donated to SACASA.
“Our goal was to raise more than $50,000 with this one-day event,” said Porsha Martinez of Winsor Consulting, the IT consulting and cybersecurity firm that co-produces the annual fundraiser in association with Tech Nerds Unite, the networking group of 300-plus IT professionals formed in 2020 that supports tech innovation in Tucson.
“Sexual assault can impact anyone, and the tech space is not immune,” said Katlyn Monje, SACASA’s director. She emphasized that “by leveraging technology responsibly, we can enhance awareness, support survivors and work towards preventing sexual violence.”
SACASA is the largest provider of sexual assault services in the state of Arizona and has been a trusted resource for sexual assault survivors since 1973. Through SACASA, thousands of survivors have been provided with a safe place to gain strength, learn coping skills and develop trusting, caring relationships. SACASA operates 24-hour sexual assault crisis lines in English and Spanish; provides 24-hour intervention, advocacy, information and referral services; assists with reporting sexual assault; provides hospital response and medical forensic exams; and offers individual, group and family counseling.
