CODAC Announces Vice President of Substance Use Treatment Operations

CODAC Health, Recovery & Wellness is proud to announce the promotion of Alex Fernandez, M.Ed., LIAC to the new role of Vice President of Substance Use Treatment Operations. With more than 30 years of experience in behavioral health and a deeply personal commitment to recovery, Fernandez brings visionary leadership and experience to this vital role.

In her new position, Fernandez oversees several cornerstone programs at CODAC, including the Medications for Opioid Use Disorders (MOUD) Program, Men’s Recovery Services, the Criminal Justice Team, and the Connie Hillman Family Foundation House, a transitional living program for pregnant and parenting women. She also leads CODAC’s collaboration with the Tucson Police Department on the TPD Deflection Program and works closely with system partners such as the Department of Child Safety (DCS), probation services and Tucson Medical Center (TMC) to expand access to care and promote recovery throughout Pima County.

Her career spans leadership roles at respected organizations including Intermountain Centers for Human Development, A Place to Call Home, and Catholic Community Services/St. Elizabeth’s Health Center. Prior to joining CODAC, she served as Director of Network Management at the Community Partnership of Southern Arizona (CPSA), where she developed deep expertise in managed care, provider contracting and system-level coordination.

Fernandez holds a Master of Education in Counseling and Human Services from Northern Arizona University and is a Licensed Independent Addiction Counselor (LIAC).
